Box Score ATLANTA, Georgia -- The Piedmont College women's basketball team used a late run to rally back from a ten-point deficit and secure a 59-56 season-opening victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the opening round of the Emory University Tip Off Classic.  Piedmont will now face #22 Emory in tomorrow's championship game with tip off set for 8:00 PM in the Woodruff PE Center.

After a low scoring first half in which the Lady Lions trailed 22-17, Piedmont would respond with 42 second half points.  Trailing 50-39 with 6:14 remaining, Piedmont would begin to mount its charge back and post a 20-6 run over the remainder of the game.  A pair of free throws by ALYSSA JONES with just 0:26 remaining would give the Lady Lions their first lead of the game since the 14:33 mark of the first half.  Jones accounted for PC's final five points with all coming from the charity stripe.

LAUREN HAMEL was the only Lady Lion to reach double-figures in scoring with a team-high 12 points on 4-10 shooting from the floor including a pair of three-pointers.  LAUREN ANDERSON and TAYLOR SWOSZOWSKI would each chip in with eight points.  Anderson snagged a team-best nine rebounds while Swoszowski was 2-3 from behind the three point line in her collegiate debut.  Jones finished with seven points, three assists and three steals.

RHIT held a 51-38 advantage on the glass but was plagued by 25 turnovers compared to PC's 11.   The Lady Lions were able to convert RHIT's turnovers into 20 points.

Piedmont (11-20, 55%) held the advantage from the free throw line over RHIT's 7-11 for 63%.

Rose-Hulman was led by Kelsey Ploof's double-double with game-highs 21 points and 18 rebounds.

The host #22 Eagles disposed of Spelman College 94-37 in the tournament opener.
