Women's Soccer Battles Maryville To Scoreless Draw

Box Score MARYVILLE, Tennessee -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team battled Maryville College to a scoreless draw this afternoon in USA South Athletic Conference action.  MARJORIE HAMMOND and MICHAELA GARDNER combined to save 12 MC shots and record the shutout.

Maryville entered the game unbeaten in USA South play with an unblemished 5-0 record and now stands at 7-1-1, 5-0-1 as the Lady Lions snapped the Scots' seven-match winning streak.

Piedmont held strong defensively holding the Scots scoreless for the first time since August 31.  Piedmont turned away 12 shots including five by Hammond in the first half and seven by Garnder in the second and two extra periods.

DILYN MACLEAN recorded two shots on goal while LAURA GOODWIN tallied the other.

The draw moves Piedmont to 8-4-1, 2-3-1 USA South. 

Piedmont returns to action on Tuesday, October 9 when the team plays host to Berry College in non-conference action at Walker Field with kick off scheduled for 7:00 PM.
