Box Score DEMOREST, Georgia -- The Piedmont College men's soccer team dominated the offensive end of the pitch tonight and the chances finally paid off late as the Lions shut out visiting Huntingdon College 2-0 in non-conference action at Walker Field.  After a scoreless first half, Piedmont punched through a pair of goals less than two minutes apart to secure the Lions' fifth win of the season.

After not being able to score in the opening 45:00 despite outshooting the Hawks 16-3, Piedmont's SIDNEY SMITH scored following the HC keeper's initial save in the box to post the eventual game-winner at the 72:45 mark.  The goal was Smith's team-leading eighth of the season.  Just 1:18 later BRADLEY THOMAS tacked on another goal off a nifty assist from Rojello Navarette to make the score 2-0.

Throughout the game, the Lions dominated the offensive chances with four shots that bounced off the crossbar.  PC would eventually outshoot Huntingdon 23-4 and hold a decisive 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.

In goal, KENNETH HEARN earned his fifth victory of the season turning away all three of the Hawks' shots on goal.

The game was a homecoming of sorts as first-year HC head coach Timmy McCormack served as Piedmont's Sports Information Director and assistant men's and women's soccer coach for the four previous seasons.

"It was a good home win tonight.  It feels good to get back into the win column and I feel like we are peaking at the right time in the season," stated head coach Jimmy Stephens.  The victory was the first for the Lions since a September 21st home win over Bob Jones.

Piedmont (5-8-2 overall) returns to USA South Athletic Conference action on Sunday, October 21 when #20 Christopher Newport University visits Walker Field with a 3:00 kick off.
