Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team needed twenty seconds of overtime to post a 4-3 USA South Athletic Conference road win at Methodist University this afternoon.
MACIE ROOKE scored with an assist from
LEILANI HEALY early in the extra frame to give Piedmont its 11th victory of the season.
Methodist took a 2-0 lead into the half on a pair of unassisted goals in the opening 45 minutes.
Piedmont's
LAURA GOODWIN scored the Lions' first two goals of the contest as Piedmont knotted the game at 2-2. She scored unassisted at the 55:17 mark, then added another tally off of a free kick at the 76:42 mark to tie the game.
DILYN MACLEAN appeared to win it in regulation for Piedmont when she scored at the 84:17 mark, before Methodist netted a goal to tie the contest once again with just three minutes left and send it into overtime where Rooke then lifted the Lions to the win.
Hammond played the opening 45:00 in goal for Piedmont and made two saves with two goals allowed, while
MICHAELA GARDNER played the final 45:20 and allowed one goal with two saves.
Piedmont held a slight 13-11 advantage in shots and the Lady Lions took all four of the game's corner kicks.
Piedmont (11-4-1, 4-3-1 USA South) returns to action on October 20 when the Lady Lions host Mary Baldwin College in conference action at Walker Field with kick off scheduled for 1:00 PM.
