Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team found itself in a shootout and came out on the high end as the Lady Lions earned a 4-2 USA South Athletic Conference road win at North Carolina Wesleyan College this afternoon. PC outscored the hosts 2-1 in both halves to pick up the crucial conference victory.
After NC Wesleyan opened the scoring on a goal by Sarah Olsowski, Piedmont responded with a pair of goals before half to take a 2-1 lead into the break.
MACIE ROOKE found the goal first on an assist from
DILYN MACLEAN before
LAURA GOODWIN scored on a helper from Kesley Schaffernoth.
The Bishops would even the score in the 61st minute off another Oslowski goal but Megan Heim would net the eventual game-winner for Piedmont with an unassisted goal from 10 yards out.
NC Wesleyan would add an own goal to provide the game's final 4-2 margin.
Piedmont held an 18-12 advantage in shots with both teams splitting the game's four corner kicks.
MARJORIE HAMMOND tallied three saves in goal in the first half while
MICHAELA GARDNER grabbed four saves in the second half as each goalie allowed one goal.
Piedmont will complete the weekend road swing with a 2:00 league challenge at Methodist University tomorrow afternoon.
