Lookout Mountain, GA - Sada Wheeler's 11th double-double of the season, matching her career high in a single season, led Piedmont in a 63-44 win over Covenant Wednesday night on the road in Great South Athletic Conference action.  The Lady Lions took a 14-point lead at the break, led by Wheeler's 21 first-half points.

The Lady Scots scored first on a tri-fecta and led for the most part until just past the halfway point in the opening stanza, when Wheeler converted a three-point play to give PC the 21-20 advantage with 9:33 on the clock.  The game-changing run consisted of a 15-1 stretch for the visitors, putting them up 12 with 2:09 left until halftime.  Wheeler scored nine of the points in that run, then made the final six points for Piedmont in the half, giving her additionally the final 10 points for the Lady Lions in the first half.

Wheeler wasn't done, as she came out of the locker room just as she was going into it.  The senior came out firing, notching the first four points for the women, giving her a total of 14 straight points for Piedmont.  The Lady Lions scored eight unanswered points to take a 24-point lead, whereupon the game score remained unchanged over the course of the next four-plus minutes when no one could add to the scoreboard.

Seven straight points for Covenant gave it renewed hope in the final five minutes, but 17 was the closest they could bridge the gap to as the Lady Lions recorded the game's final bucket with freshman Symone Ball's jumper with 2:43 left.  No one scored the rest of the way, giving Piedmont a 19-point convincing win.

Wheeler led the attack with 27 points and 12 rebounds, adding four blocks and four steals.  Ball and senior Amber Satterfield tallied eight points each, while the referees virtually saved their whistles, granting only nine total shots from the charity stripe by the two teams combined.  In a game with odd statistics, the Lady Lions also failed to connect from long distance, missing on all 10 attempts from beyond the arc.  The women rise to 14-3 and 6-2 in GSAC and look to up their record Saturday afternoon when Huntingdon makes a visit at 2:00 pm inside Cave Arena.
