Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team needed just 80 seconds to get on the board Friday night defeating visiting Bluefield College 2-0 before the hometown fans at Walker Athletic Complex.  The Lady Lions rode a pair of first half scores to their eighth win in the last nine games stretching out their unbeaten streak on the 2011 season to now nine straight matches.

Getting the early goal for Piedmont was junior Dilyn MacLean whose score in the second minute of play was her sixth of the season.  Freshman Nikki Means picked up the assist on MacLean's score as the youngster tallied the first assist of her collegiate playing career.

The Lady Lions would get the better of the play for the next 20 minutes before chalking up another score when a MacLean through ball found Laura Goodwin streaking down the right side behind the defense.  The sophomore calmly tucked away her fifth score of the season to double up PC's advantage at 2-0 only 26 minutes into the contest.

After carrying the lead through the halftime break, Piedmont would need no more offensive strikes picking up a solid defensive effort from its back four while sophomore goalkeeper Marjorie Hammond collected the sixth shutout of her 2011 season.

Hammond is now 8-0-1 as a starter on the year having allowed just a trio of scores while using tonight's performance to lower her goals against average to a measly 0.33, the lowest such mark by any Lady Lion keeper at this point in the season in PC's NCAA era.

Piedmont outshot the visitors 21 to eight while putting 12 chances on target forcing Bluefield keeper Tracy Muncy to make ten saves on the night.  Hammond had five saves on the evening for PC who was led in shots by MacLean with seven while the Lady Rams saw Pip Pattison tally five chances to lead the way for the visitors.

The Lady Lions stay unbeaten at 8-0-1 posting their sixth clean sheet on the season.  Piedmont now moves into the conference portion of its 2011 schedule hitting the road to take on in-state foe LaGrange College on Tuesday, September 27th.  Kickoff is set for 5:30 pm.
