Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College men's tennis team fell earlier this afternoon in a home match with Berry College by a final score of 7-2. The loss is just the second for the Lions in their last six matches as PC managed just a pair of points on the singles side of play in defeat.
Piedmont found itself in a hole with no way to dig out after dropping all three doubles points in today's match up. The lone bright spots came from the rackets of
Moses Das and
Patrick Steck in singles action following the 3-0 deficit from doubles play.
Das took his decision at the #1 singles slot with a dramatic 6-3, 3-6, 11-9 victory as the veteran dug down deep to pull out the win in tie break fashion. Steck's victory also came in a tie break situation with the newcomer rallying from a 6-1 loss in the opening set to win 1-6, 6-3, 10-8.
The loss drops Piedmont to an even 5-5 on the season and 3-3 at home in 2011. The Lions will get back on the courts when they host Reinhardt College for a 3:30 afternoon match on Monday, April 4.
