Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College tennis teams split a pair of decisions on the court earlier today with Great South Athletic Conference member LaGrange College.  The PC men's tennis team pulled to 1-1 in league play shutting out the visiting Panthers 9-0 while the Lady Lion squad fell to LC in a non-conference match-up by a final score of 7-2.

In women's action, returner Lauren Anderson represented the Lady Lions' lone singles point taking a 6-3, 6-4 win at the #5 spot. The victory improves the Habersham Central graduate to 2-0 in singles decisions on the 2011 season.

Anderson also snagged a point at #3 doubles with teammate Cydney Goodwin as the two took a 8-1 victory. The win was the second of the season for the doubles pair as they now stand at 2-0 overall in doubles play.

On the men's side, the Lions claimed all nine possible points led by dominating performances at #1, #5, and #6 singles.  Veteran Moses Das earned both a singles and doubles point for Head Coach Shane Wood as Das won 6-0, 6-1 at the #1 singles slot.

Das and doubles partner Patrick Steck claimed PC's largest doubles win of the day with a decisive 8-1 victory.  The win puts the pair at 3-2 overall while they stay perfect in GSAC doubles play at 2-0 against league opponents.

Junior Justin Gilleland also accounted for singles and doubles points winning 6-0, 6-1 at the #6 singles spot.  Gilleland also helped PC grab a key victory early on in the match at #2 doubles as the pair of Gilleland of Christopher Davidson took a tight 9-8 decision by way of 7-3 tiebreak.

The men's victory moves the Lions' record to 2-3 overall and an even 1-1 in GSAC play.  The loss for the Lady Lions drops their season mark to 2-2 but does not count in the conference standings as today's match-up was a non-counter for the league.

The men will be back in action when they travel to Virginia this weekend for an afternoon match with Randolph College on Friday, March 18.  The women's team returns to the court on Tuesday, March 22 when the squad hosts Covenant College for a 4:30 first serve.
