Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College men's basketball team fell earlier this evening to out-of-state foe Warren Wilson College 75-62 to split the season series with the North Carolina school. The Owls used hot shooting from three-point land hitting 11 of their 21 tries from downtown to draw even with PC on the year taking the 13 point decision at home.
Playing their 12th road game of the year, the Lions trailed only 34-32 at the halftime break and actually held a 44-43 lead with just under 15 minutes remaining in the game. However, that one point lead would not stand and turned out to be PC's final lead of the game as the Owls grabbed the eventual 75-62 victory.
Junior
Josh Haymore continued to stay hot posting 21 total points as the only Lion in double-figures on the night. Just three days after dropping a career-high 34 points in an overtime loss to Berry, the guard put up the second highest-point total of his Lion career with his 21 points.
Forward
Tracey Gardner scored nine points while also pulling down seven rebounds in the loss. Freshman point guard
Will Skaggs added six more assists to his season total to keep his season average close to six helpers per contest.
Sophomore
Josh Chapman and freshman
Kyle Lundberg each added eight points a piece to the effort. The loss is the second in the team's last two games at Warren Wilson after the Owls also claimed a home win on February 24, 2009.
Piedmont moves to 8-14 overall while dropping to 5-7 in road contests on the season. The Lions will look to regroup when they travel to LaGrange College on Wednesday, January 9 for a 8:00 evening contest.
