Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team fell for the first time in the 2011 season dropping a 1-0 decision to Covenant College at home to snap a 13 game unbeatean streak, the longest in the program's NCAA era which began with the 2003 season.  The goal allowed by PC is just the fourth score given up on the year in now 14 games and is the first goal allowed in over 500 minutes of action by the back four and sophomore goalkeeper Marjorie Hammond.

Covenant had much of the run of play in the first half outshooting the hosting Lady Lions ten to four capitalizing on a chance in the 20th minute as Kara Lee headed home a Mo Cross service with authority for the 1-0 lead.  The Lady Scots carried the one goal advantage into the break though the visitors created several more dangerous chances before the halftime whistle blew.

In the second half, the hometown Lady Lions started to come alive tallying ten total chances while holding Covenant to just a single shot over the final 45 at Walker Athletic Complex.  However, Piedmont could not convert on the Lady Scots who sat in well to absorb the growing pressure holding on to the tight 1-0 victory in regulation.

The loss puts Piedmont down to 12-1-1 on the year though the game does not count in the Great South Athletic Conference year-end standings.  The Lady Lions will look to bounce back when they visit GSAC foe Spelman College in a counter on Tuesday, October 18th for a 4:00 pm afternoon contest.
