Atlanta, GA -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team fell in their second match of the season in an overtime thriller at non-conference foe Oglethorpe University this afternoon. After a dead-even 90 minutes of regulation, one minute of overtime was enough for the host team to get by the Lady Lions 1-0.
As a team, the Lady Lions were outshot by only one with that final shot proving to be the deciding factor in the match. While possession was mixed amongst the evenly matched squads, Oglethorpe held the slight advantage in corner kicks with their five to PC's three.
Katilyn Induni turned in a solid performance between the posts saving the first eight shots from OU before allowing a goal on the ninth. Sophomore
Dilyn MacLean also contributed to the effort putting three shots on frame while senior forward
Katie Porter and freshman midfielder
Cydney Goodwin each had a pair of shots on goal.
With the loss, the Lady Lions fall to 1-1 on the young season. PC will look to rebound this weekend as the team will host Meredith College on Friday, September 10 at 7:00 at Allen Creek Soccer Complex.
