Macon, GA -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team earned its first Great South Athletic Conference win of the season earlier this evening on the road at Wesleyan College. The Lady Lions used a fast start and five first half goals to cruise to a 12-0 shutout win.
Freshman
Laura Goodwin led the squad offensively with four goals including the game winner to go along with a trio of assists. Classmate
Cydney Goodwin posted the first hat-trick performance in her Lady Lion career while sophomore
Dilyn MacLean put up a pair of goals and an assist.
Forward
Macie Rooke netted her second goal of the season in the contest while freshman
Elizabeth Farmer notched the first score of her collegiate career. So far this season, the Lady Lions have outscored their opposition tallying 44 goals while allowing only six to opposing teams..
Senior
Kaitlyn Induni and freshman
Marjorie Hammond combined for the shutout in goal while Induni added a goal of her own from the field, her second of the season. Hammond continues her shutout streak pushing her total time without allowing a goal to 182 minutes in her debut season.
The win puts the Lady Lions at 6-3 on the season while the squad opens conference play 1-0. Piedmont will look to stay unbeaten in league action Saturday, October 2 when the program plays host to the Hawks of Huntingdon College. The match will be the first for the women's team on the new turf facility at the Walker Athletic Complex with kickoff slated for 1:00.
