Mount Berry, GA -- The Piedmont College cross country squads ran in their second event of the 2010 season taking part in the Berry College Invitational this morning. Though each squad posted a 12th place finish in their respective fields, both squads finished ahead of Great South Athletic Conference member LaGrange College in the event.
Leading the men's team with an 8K time of 30:53 was returner
Chez Maxwell followed closely by junior
Matt Collins who came in at 31:48. Teammates
Wesley Milton and
Aaron Saylor crossed the line within twenty seconds of each other while freshman Quinton Deaton rounded out the pack at 40:28.
On the women's side, it was freshman
Molly Atkinson who led the way with her 5K time of 24:41 while teammate
Kristen Payne came in at 26:54. Sophomore
Michelle Sosia trailed Payne by only 12 seconds while
Emilie Garner and
Anna McClatchy finished within a second of each other at 29:35 and 29:36 respectively. Freshman runner
Dixie Mays marked the final Lady Lion to cross the line at 31:01.
The PC cross country squads will return to the course on Saturday, October 2 when the teams will travel to Memphis, TN to run in the Rhodes College Invitational.
