PC Women's Basketball Locker Room Gets New Look

Contact: Timmy McCormack, Sports Information Director

Renovations in the women's basketball locker room including an interlocking PC logo, fresh paint and carpet, and added seating, are wrapping up as new student-athletes arrive back on campus to compete for the Lady Lions.
Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College women's basketball program is currently in the process of revamping its locker room facilities complete with a new logo design, fresh paint, and extra seating for additional incoming student-athletes.  The changes were made to accomadate a growing women's basketball program arriving on campus as all students began class in Demorest earlier this week.

With the help of Budget Carpet Outlet, sleek new black carpeting with a white interlocking classic PC logo now fills the newly renovated women's basketball locker room while additional seating was arranged with refurbished couches placed inside for the comfort of the student-athletes.  To make room for new student-athletes, an equipment closet was also knocked out and transformed into a lounging space for players and coaches alike while a fresh coat of paint also went on the walls of the revamped locker room.

The changes in the locker room have not been the only exciting news surrounding the women's basketball program as they come on the heels of the program's magical run to the Great South Athletic Cofnerence tournament championship game.  Head Coach Jamie Purdy will return for her sixth season at the helm of the successful program which has made three appearances in the GSAC tournament championship taking home back-to-back titles in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.

In Purdy's five years on campus as the head coach for the women's basketball program, ten players have been honored with All-Conference selections including a GSAC tournament MVP in 2007.  The fomer GSAC Coach of the Year has also demonstrated Piedmont's committment to academics mentoring 25 All-Academic selections since first arriving on campus in 2005.

"With the growth of our program due to recent success on the court, our locker room needed some updating and resizing to accomodate our student-athletes," said Head Women's Basketball Coach Jamie Purdy. "After Piedmont's maintenance crew opened up space by removing a storage closet, we added new paint and carpet with a PC logo from Budget Carpet Outlet to enhance the area.  There a few minor touches that need to be made before the project is complete, but we're very excited and pleased with the results."
