Demorest, GA -- The PC men's soccer team has released its 2010 match schedule featuring a pair of trips to Virginia early in the season as well as out-of-conference matches with the likes of Emory University and the University of Dallas dotting the lineup. The Lions look to improve on a 9-9-1 season last fall as they play host on six separate occasions to teams from all across the southeast including the states of Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama.

The men's soccer squad will hit the road early in 2010 with two trips to Virginia on back-to-back weekends in September to face Averett University, Guilford College, Warren Wilson College, and Ferrum College. After playing seven of their first nine contests away from home, the Lions will settle in with two home contests against two teams not on the 2009 men's soccer schedule in the University of Dallas and Methodist University. UD makes its trip to the confines of Walker Field fresh off a 2009 season that came to a dramatic end with a 2-1 overtime loss in tournament final of the North Eastern Athletic Conference championship. Meanwhile, fellow schedule newcomer Methodist made its own conference tournament appearance in 2009 falling in the semifinals of the USA South Conference tournament.

PC also hosts two of its three Great South Athletic Conference contests this upcoming fall with member schools Huntingdon College and LaGrange College making the journey up to Demorest. Sandwiched between its home conference matches is an October 16 showdown with defending GSAC champion Maryville College. PC finished as the conference runner-up in both the regular season and championship tournament this past season.

Of the 17 matches on the 2010 schedule, 12 are against NCAA Division-III South Atlantic Region opponents. In addition to its six regular season home matches, the PC men's soccer program will also play host to the Great South Athletic Conference championship tournament to be held on the weekend of November 5 and 6. Piedmont's season opener comes at home on Thursday, September 2 against Tennessee Temple University with kickoff slated for 6:00.
