Lookout Mountain, GA -- The Piedmont College softball team took to the road this evening defeating Covenant College for another doubleheader to extend their winning streak to eight games. After shutting out the Scots 3-0 in game one, PC went to extra innings in game two to grab a 1-0 win in eight innings.
In game one, the Lady Lions put two runs on the board in the second inning and never looked back adding an insurance run in the top of the seventh. #B.J. Cofer# shut down the Scots offensively allowing no runs and only four hits with none going for extra bases.
At the plate, Piedmont was led by freshman
Megan McClain who knocked two singles while tallying an RBI.
Megan Kesler also contributed going 1-2 as she scored the eventual game-winning run in the second inning.
Game two came down to the wire as neither team managed to cross the plate through seven innings of play. Piedmont broke the deadlock in the top of the eighth with a
Brandi Hellemn RBI to score teammate Morgan Taylor.
Pitcher
Megan Kesler tossed six scoreless innings allowing just four hits while fanning five. Kesler also gave up just two walks to the host Scots.
With the sweep, the Lady Lions move to 12-6 on the season. Piedmont will play host to Spelman College in doubleheader action on Tuesday, April 6 with game one set for 5:00.
