Lady Lions Advance To GSAC Tournament Semifinals

Forward Sada Wheeler posted 18 points and nine rebounds, both game highs, in the Lady Lions' 84-58 victory over Spelman College this evening at Cave Arena.

The third-seeded Piedmont College women's basketball team defeated visiting sixth-seeded Salem College this evening at Cave Arena by the score of 84-58 in a Great South Athletic Conference quarterfinal play-in game. The Lady Lions placed three in double figures en route to the 13th victory of the season.

The Lady Lions, who never trailed, opened the action with a 10-0 run highlighted by four points from Alyssa Jones. After the Spirits would cut the margin to 28-19 with six minutes remaining the home team posted a 16-6 spurt to lead by a half-high 19 points.

PC dominated the paint 14-4 in the first half and held the edge off the bench 23-10 to carry a 46-28 advantage into the locker room.

In the second period the Lady Lions led by no less than 16 and held a comfortable 70-52 edge with five minutes remaining. The squad would end the game on a 14-6 spurt to lead by a game-high 26 at the final buzzer.

Forward Sada Wheeler narrowly missed a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds, both game highs. Lindsey Logan added 11 points on three tri-fectas while Lauren Anderson also reached double figures with 10.

Piedmont, now an even 13-13 overall, will take on third-seeded LaGrange College on Friday, February 26th with tip-off slated for 1:00.
