Lookout Mountain, GA --
The Piedmont College women's basketball team grabbed yet another win on the road under Head Coach Jamie Purdy defeating Covenant College 64-41 earlier this evening.  The 23-point victory was the third win away from the Cave in four tries for the Lady Lions this 2010-11 season.

It was all Piedmont early and often this evening as PC opened the game on a 26-6 run capped by a Danielle Hendrick three-pointer with just over seven minutes to play in the first half.  The host Lady Scots did not let the Lady Lions have all the fun in the first half climbing back into the game to get to halftime with the score sitting at 30-19 in favor of the visitors.

Despite Covenant's push late in the first half, Piedmont would hold a double-digit lead for the final 13 minutes of play to cruise down the stretch.  A Cassie Billingsley layup with under a minute to play gave the Lady Lions their final margin of 23 points in the 64-41 victory.

Lauren Anderson posted a team-high 12 points on the night on five of eight shooting from the field while also turning in a pair of rebounds and assists.  For the sophomore forward from local Habersham Central High School, the point total bested her previous game-high of eight points from earlier this season that came in a home victory over in-state opponent Oglethorpe University.

Following Anderson in the scoring column was senior Laura Simmons who put up nine points to go with her five rebounds on the evening.  Also contributing to the Piedmont win was junior Amber Satterfield and newcomer Danielle Hendrick as the pair combined for 12 points and six helpers.

After allowing the Scots to climb back into this evening's contest by virtue of Covenant's 40% shooting from beyond the arc, it was Piedmont's defense that helped seal tonight's victory on the road.  The Lady Lions clamped down on the defensive end of the court holding the home team to less than 20% shooting from downtown in the second half.

With the road victory, Piedmont improves to 4-3 on the year.  The Lady Lions will look to make it two wins in a row when the squad hosts Ferrum College on Wednesday, December 15 for a 6:00 match-up.
