Demorest, GA --
The Piedmont College women's basketball team was within a basket with less than two seconds to play but visiting Emory University held on until the clock read all zeros for a 79-77 win in the Cave earlier this afternoon.  An Amber Satterfield three-pointer with time winding down gave the Lady Lions hope, but Emory was able to dribble out the clock to hold on for the two point win.

The match-up between these two schools could not have been tighter throughout as the score tied for the sixth time in the first half at 24 a piece with just over five minutes remaining.  However, it was at that time that the visitors would start to seize control going on a 17 to five run over the next four minutes.

As Piedmont trailed by 12 with just under one minute to halftime, Amber Satterfield hit a key three-point bucket to cut the lead back down to single digits before halftime.  After having led 41-32 at the half, Emory would then see a furious comeback staged by Piedmont as Laura Simmons posted eight points in a PC run that would tie the score at 51-51 less than five minutes into the second half.

Emory managed to hold Piedmont off just a few minutes longer before the home team could take a lead at 59-58 off an Alyssa Jones jumper at the 11:14 mark.  With the score nodded at 74 and under a minute to play, the visiting Eagles would spot up for a devastating three pointer that led to their eventual 79-77 thrilling win in the Cave.

Satterfield led all scorers on the Piedmont side with her 26 total points grabbing 13 in each half to go along with a trio of rebounds.  The junior sharpshooter connected on seven of 11 three-point field goals and knocked down five of her six free throw attempts.

A pair of Lady Lions joined Satterfield in the double-digits of the scoring column as Laura Simmons put up 14 while collecting six rebounds, five of which came on the defensive end.  Sophomore Alyssa Jones also climbed into double-digits with 11 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Sada Wheeler did her damage on the glass collecting nine rebounds on the day while Shanice Wheeler quietly went for eight points, five boards, and eight helpers on the day.

The loss drops Piedmont to 3-3 on the season as PC fell to an in-state foe for the first time this season.  The Lady Lions will now turn their attention to a road contest at Covenant College on Thursday, December 9 for a 5:00 evening tip-off.
