Box Score

Demorest, GA --
The Piedmont College women's basketball team wasted no time grabbing their fifth win of 2010-11 cruising to a 74-44 victory over Methodist University this afternoon in the Cave.  The Lady Lions used their nationally ranked field goal percentage defense to put the clamps on the visitng Monarchs early holding Methodist to just 9.1% shooting in the first half.

The Lady Lions quickly jumped out in front this afternoon going on an 11-0 run care of 11 points from forward Sada Wheeler. However, it was the Piedmont defense that was the star as the home team only allowed four points to the visiting Monarchs through the first 12 minutes of play.

After managing just eight first half points, the Monarchs would not fare well in the second half either as the visitors never pulled closer than 20 points in the final 20 minutes of action. Care of eight second half points from Sydney Seitz who was perfect from the field on the day, the Lady Lions would not be challenged down the stretch cruising to a 74-44 home win.

Junior Sada Wheeler posted another double-double while leading the Lady Lions in three statistical categories collecting 14 points, ten rebounds, and four blocks.  The Gainesville, GA native scored Piedmont's first 11 points helping to spark PC's largest margin of victory so far this season.

Veteran Laura Simmons was close behind with her 12 points on the day on six of seven shooting from the field.  The Lady Lions' lone senior also pulled down seven boards including four on the offensive end that led to eight second chance points for the home team.

Posting a remarkable performance off the bench was Sydney Seitz who sank all six of her field goal attempts on the way to 14 total points in the win.  The freshman forward was also a perfect two for two at the charity stripe.

The victory improves Piedmont to 5-4 on the season including a 3-2 mark in the month of December.  The Lady Lions will now break for the Christmas holidays before returning to action on January 5 when the squad travels to Agnes Scott College for a 6:00 conference showdown with the Scotties.
