Demorest, GA --
The Piedmont College women's soccer team fell in Great South Athletic Conference action for the first time this season dropping a 1-0 decision at home to Salem College.  The Lady Lions applied tough pressure through the first period, but could not withstand the Spirits' attack in the second half allowing the late score.

Piedmont battled with the visitors from Winston-Salem to a even match as both squads posted similar shot totals as well as earning two and three corners respectively.  However, with play becoming more open towards the end of the second half, the Piedmont defense finally allowed a score with only 11 minutes to play.

Six different Lady Lions posted shots on goal including senior Katie Porter and sophomore Macie Rooke who each added a single shot on target.  Veteran goalkeeper Kaitlyn Induni collected four saves while allowing only the seventh score in eleven games so far this season.

With the loss, the Lady Lions fall to 7-4 on the season while dropping to 2-1 in GSAC play.  Piedmont will look to rebound when the squad hosts Spelman College on Wednesday, October 13 for a 6:00 match.
