Demorest, GA --
The Piedmont College women's soccer team battled the weather and the Panthers of LaGrange College earlier this evening taking a 8-0 victory over the visitors.  After lightning in the nearby area delayed the start of the game and caused a suspension of play in the second half, the Lady Lions would send out their senior class with a bang on Senior Night in spite of the weather.

Sophomore Dilyn MacLean got the scoring going converting a penalty kick in the 14th minute to give PC the early 1-0 lead.  Forward Laura Goodwin then added to the home team's advantage when she turned a long punt from senior keeper Kaitlyn Induni into the 11th goal of the year for the freshman.

Senior Katie Porter would also make an impact on the special night posting a score just before halftime from a Justine Clay assist.  For Porter, the score would put her career point total to 200 making her the all-time leader in that category in the history of the Piedmont women's soccer program.

The second half was more of the same as MacLean added another score in the 46th minute while Laura Goodwin added a pair of goals within a six minute span.  Also getting on the scoring sheet was Macie Rooke who tabbed her third of 2010 while Meghan Heim found the back of the net for the fourth time in the last three games.

Junior Justine Clay led all Lady Lions with a pair of assists while Rooke and Heim also grabbed a helper as well. Both Cydney and LAURA GOODWIN each posted an assist in the match to round out the list.

Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Induni also had a Senior Night to remember posting a shutout and an assist on a long punt in the first half.  Freshman Marjorie Hammond relieved Induni in the second half making a key save to keep LaGrange scoreless as the youngster still has yet to be scored on in her collegiate career.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 10-6 overall while improving to 4-2 in Great South Athletic Conference play. Piedmont will return to action when they travel to Agnes Scott College for a key conference finale on Thursday, October 28.  Kickoff is set for 4:00 in Decatur, GA.
