Box Score

Montgomery, AL --
The Piedmont College men's soccer team used a solid performance at the goalkeeping position and a high scoring output to overcome Great South Athletic Conference member Huntingdon College by a 4-2 final score.  The Lions scored first and stayed ahead throughout the match to claim their ninth win of the 2010 campaign.

Sophomore SIDNEY SMITH put PC on the board early in the first half with his sixth goal of the season giving Piedmont a 1-0 lead on the road.  Junior NICK WEATHERBY then added to the Lions' advantage with his first goal of the day finding the net just before halftime.

Shortly after the intermission, Weatherby would add to his goal total with his second of the day pushing the Lions' lead to 3-0.  Piedmont would then face a flurry of action from Huntingdon that would result in two goals for the home team putting the score at 3-2.

With PC's lead threatened, freshman MASON FLYNN would provide some insurance for the road warriors notching his first goal of the season to give Piedmont a 4-2 advantage that would hold up as the final score.

Junior netminder BRIAN GAID put in a solid performance between the posts holding the Hawks to just a pair of second half scores.  The Marietta, GA native also saved a penalty kick and the rebounded shot to help preserve the Lions' victory.

With the win, Piedmont moves to 9-6 on the season.  The Lions will return to action when they host GSAC member LaGrange College on Tuesday, October 26 in a 7:30 contest.
