Toccoa Falls, GA --
The Piedmont College women's soccer team grabbed its ninth win of the season earlier this evening with a 9-0 thrashing of local-rival Toccoa Falls College.  Seven different Lady Lions found the back of the net while PC posted its seventh shutout of 2010.

Freshman forward Meghan Heim got the scoring rolling in just the third minute of play when she took a through ball from senior Katie Porter and calmly pushed a shot to the side netting.  After grabbing the 1-0 early lead, the score remained unchanged until another newcomer in Laura Goodwin scored her tenth goal of the season in the 25th minute.

Heim would then net two more scores in just two minutes to give the squad a 4-0 advantage at the break.  After the intermission, Porter would post a goal of her own in the 52nd minute off a pass from sophomore Dilyn MacLean who also converted a penalty kick ten minutes later for her first goal of the night.

With twenty minutes remaining, junior midfielder Justine Clay would connect on a shot from 30 yards out that pinged the left post before hitting the back of the net.  Wrapping up the scoring was sophomores Katherine Metz and Brooke Terilli who each grabbed their second goal of the year.

Combining between the sticks for the shutout was senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Induni and youngster Marjorie Hammond.  As a team, PC outshot the host Eagles 17 to two for the match as the Lady Lions didn't allow a single shot to Toccoa in the second half.

With the win, Piedmont moves to 9-5 on the season.  The team will return to action when they host new Great South Athletic Conference member Covenant College on Saturday, Ocotber 30 for a 1:00 kickoff.
