Demorest, GA --
The Piedmont College women's soccer team earned another Great South Athletic Conference victory this evening holding on to take a 1-0 decision over visiting Spelman College.  The victory was the second for the squad at the newly renovated Walker Athletic Complex improving their record at home to 5-1.

The Lady Lions applied heavy pressure to the Spelman defense throughout the contest putting 12 shots on goal to just two for the visitors.  Holding the Jaguars without a shot in the second half, the home team finally broke through when junior Justine Clay played a ball to fellow midfielder Cydney Goodwin who turned and slotted one backpost for her sixth goal of the season.

Senior Kaitlyn Induni held the Jaguars scoreless on the evening needing to make two saves to preserve her fourth shutout of 2010.  The back four of Katherine Metz, Kaitlyn Pannell, Sarah Hill, and Hayleah Waters did their part as well to keep the visitors out of the back of the net.

The win puts the Lady Lions to 8-4 on the year and into a second place tie with Salem College in the conference standings.  Piedmont will return to action this Saturday, October 18 when they travel to Maryville College to take on the defending GSAC champion Scots in a 4:00 battle
