Atlanta, GA -- The Piedmont College women's basketball team traveled to Great South Athletic Conference host Spelman College this evening and overtook the Jaguars by the score of 86-68. The Lady Lions (6-11, 5-2 GSAC) placed four in double figures en route to the team's third road victory of the season.
In the first half Piedmont connected on 16-28 (57%) shots from the floor while the home-standing Jaguars knocked down eight baskets from behind the arc.
Sada Wheeler led the Lady Lions with 10 points and seven boards in the first half as both teams entered the intermission knotted at 42-42.
In the second period PC clamped down on the defensive end holding Spelman to a mere 8-36 (22%) from the floor while connecting on a blistering 76% of their shots. For the half the Lady Lions saw nine different players notch points including three players with at least seven.
Wheeler paced four in double figures with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds including a pair of blocks.
Lindsey Wiley added 12 points while
Alyssa Jones and
Mandy Beasley chipped in with 11 points respectively.
PC will turn around on short rest tomorrow, January 24th as they play host to non-conference foe Rust College at Cave Arena starting at 2:00.
