Demorest, GA -- For the eighth consecutive home match the Piedmont College men's soccer team walked away victorious, this afternoon at the hands of visiting Florida College at Walker Field by the score of 1-0. The Lion defense was impregnable holding the opposition to zero shots on goal for the first shutout of the young season.

PC was able to produce five shots on goal in the first frame, but could not break through and entered intermission in a nil-nil tie. Just one minute into the second frame freshman Sidney Smith broke free of his defender and laid a pass off to senior Jeremy Stille who deposited the eventual game-winner into the back of the net.

The Lions' defense, anchored by senior Chris Leone took over from there rejecting every Falcon attempt at the equalizer. The shutout marks the first of the year for sophomore goaltender Brian Gaid who recorded four last year.

For the match PC outshot the visitors 11-0 and held the advantage in corner kicks 6-1.

The men, now 2-0 overall, will play host to local rival Oglethorpe University on Wednesday, September 9th at Walker Field under the lights beginning at 7:00.
