Demorest, GA -- After dropping its first match of the season the Piedmont College women's soccer team bounced back this evening at Walker Field by handing visiting in-state rival Oglethorpe University a 3-1 defeat. Five different Lady Lions chipped in to produce the three goals and assists respectively.

The win moves the squad to 6-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 at the friendly confines of Walker Field. The women will travel to Raleigh, NC for a first ever meeting with Meredith College on Saturday, September 26th beginning at 2:00.

At the 34th minute the Lady Lions took the only lead of the night as junior Katie Porter connected on a long distance upper-ninety goal from a tough angle with the assist going to Alex Croteau. A mere five minutes later Justine Clay hit the eventual game-winner off a pass from Caitlin Hurd.

In the second frame Macie Rooke added an insurance goal off a pass from Porter who was sprung initially by newcomer Brielle Cobb. The Stormy Petrels would cut into the margin with a goal at the 85th minute but could get no closer and dropped the two-goal decision.

Between the posts Kaitlyn Induni earned eight saves for her sixth win of the year. In four matches at home the Lady Lions have now outscored their opponents 17-3 and have posted 52 shots on goal.
