Michelle Wagner posted three hits including a pair of doubles against Huntingdon College.
In the first Great South Athletic Conference action of the season the Piedmont College softball team dropped a pair to visiting Huntingdon College this afternoon at Walker Field by the scores of 6-2 and 7-4. The Lady Hawks used a four-run inning and 10 hits in each game to pick up the doubleheader sweep.

In game one the visitors posted an unearned run in the first inning to take the early lead. PC answered in the bottom of the third as RALEY WHITE tripled and later scored on an RBI-double from LINDSAY DREVLOW. HC added a single run in the sixth and four runs on six hits in the seventh to stretch the advantage to 6-1.

In the home half of the seventh inning the Lady Lions notched a single run as HANNAH MCKAY crossed the dish on a White groundout. The women could get no closer and dropped the four-run decision.

In the finale Huntingdon got on the board first with three runs on three hits in the second inning. After two outs in the bottom of the third the Lady Lions exploded for three runs on four consecutive hits. White, MICHELLE WAGNER and Drevlow all doubled and MICHELLE CRANDALL capped the scoring with an RBI-single.

In the fourth inning the Lady Hawks added four runs on five hits and a costly Piedmont error that led to a pair of unearned runs. PC could only muster a single run in the sixth and left the bases loaded with the go-ahead run at the plate.

The Lady Lions offense produced 17 hits, six of which went for extra bases, with four different player recording three hits.

The women will return to the field again on Monday, March 23rd as they host Covenant College at Walker Field with first pitch scheduled for 2:00.
