Lady Lions Advance To GSAC Championship Match

Katie Porter found the game-winning goal as the second-seeded Lady Lions defeated Agnes Scott College this afternoon 3-1 to advance to the GSAC Tournament championship.

Maryville, TN --
The Piedmont College women's soccer team defeated third-seeded Agnes Scott College this afternoon by the score of 3-1 to advance to the Great South Athletic Conference Tournament championship match. The Lady Lions will take on top-seeded and defending champion Maryville College tomorrow, November 7th beginning at 1:00 for a chance at receiving an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

After 41 minutes of scoreless action the Scotties got on the board first with a goal just before intermission. The Lady Lions responded as Macie Rooke found the equalizer just 18 seconds into the second frame. With only 13 minutes remaining in regulation Katie Porter found the game-winner unassisted.

For the match the women outshot ASC 21-9, 15 of which were on goal. Between the posts goaltender Kaitlyn Induni earned her 14th victory of the season with five crucial saves.

The victory improves the women to 14-3 overall.
