Women Edge GSAC Member Salem 2-1 On The Road

For the fourth time this season the Piedmont College women's soccer team earned a Great South Athletic Conference victory, this afternoon at the hands of host Salem College by the score of 2-1. The Lady Lions found the game-winning goal with just three minutes remaining in regulation for their 10th win of the year.

Just three minutes into the first half Erin Pippin found the back of the net to give the squad the lead. The Spirits answered 30 minutes later with an equalizing goal to knot the score at one apiece.

After 54 minutes of scoreless action junior Katie Porter found her team-best fourth game-winner to seal the match. Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Induni was up to the challenge posting five saves while the defense anchored by Nicole Hood allowed only six shots on goal.

The victory is only the second one-goal decision of the season for Piedmont, who now stands at 10-2 overall and a perfect 4-0 in GSAC action. The Lady Lions will return to Walker Field on Tuesday, October 6th to square-off with local rival Toccoa Falls College under the lights beginning at 7:00.
