Post-Game Interview
Demorest, GA -- Behind a high-powered offense that posted the highest goal output of the season the Piedmont College men's soccer team defeated visiting Great South Athletic Conference member Huntingdon College this afternoon at Walker Field by the score of 9-2. Three different Lions earned multiple goals en route to the victory.
The win improves the squad to an even 7-7-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the Great South. The victory also clinches the #2 seed in the upcoming GSAC Tournament. PC will return to the pitch again on Wednesday, October 28th as they travel to non-conference host Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA starting at 4:00.
The Lions got off to a quick start as
Sidney Smith tallied the first goal of the match just 50 seconds into regulation. Senior
Jorge Pradilla then struck the next two goals at the 16th and 20th minute respectively, the latter proving to be the eventual game-winner.
After intermission the Huntingdon tried to get back in the match with a pair of goals but saw the Lions roar back with six goals, four of which came in the final 12 minutes.
Jeremy Stille posted a pair of goals while
Nick Weatherby and
Chris Leone added single goals apiece.
For the match Smith joined Stille with a pair of goals while Pradilla earned the hat-trick along with a pair of assists. The Lions outshot the visitors 14-5 on goal and earned seven corner kicks. The nine goal total, as well as the six goal second half, proved to be season highs.
