Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College women's soccer team fell tonight at Walker Field to visiting Great South Athletic Conference foe Maryville College by the score of 3-0. The loss snaps the Lady Lions' six-match winning streak that dated back to September 27th.
Both teams played to a scoreless first half, despite the visiting Scots recording all six shots on goal. The eventual game-winner came at the 56th minute. MC would tack on a pair of insurance goals at the 78th and 89th minutes to seal the victory.
The Lady Lions earned five shots in goal in the second half, two of which came off the foot of
Casey Lovelady. Goaltender
Kaitlyn Induni posted 12 saves between the posts out of the visitor's 15 shots on goal.
The loss slides Piedmont to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 21st as they host LaGrange College at Walker Field in a non-conference matchup starting at 5:30.
