In its biggest offensive explosion of the season, the Piedmont College men's basketball team rolled past local non-conference rival Toccoa Falls College tonight in Cave Arena by the score of 117-74. The Lions scoring output was the highest of the season and marked the first time the men reached the 100 plateau for points in a game.
In addition to the impressive shooting (45-78, 58%,) PC brought down 20 more rebounds (52-32) than their opponents including 18 offensive rebounds. The Lions were also able to force 20 Eagle turnovers including 14 steals.
Piedmont used pressure defense to create a 10-0 run to start the game but TFC fought back to get within five points. Five minutes later the Lions went on a 27-4 run and entered the half with a comfortable 30-point lead. In the second half the Lions shot 60% from the field and coasted to the 43-point victory.
Senior Mike Adams led a season-high six Lions in double figures with 20 points. Jake Baldwin and Michael Rubio added 19 and 12 poitns respectively while Chuck McCoy, Philip Erwin and Jake Green chipping in with 10 points apiece. All 13 dressed players scored a basket with seven different players knocking down a three-point basket.
PC improves to 11-9 overall for the season. The Lions will return to action again on Saturday, February 3rd in a Great South Athletic Conference game against visiting LaGrange College starting at 4:00 in Cave Arena.
