The Piedmont College women's soccer team came close on three scoring opportunities but when the dust settled PC's fate was sealed at the hands of visiting Methodist College this afternoon at PC's Walker Field by the score of 2-0. Erin Porter played well between the posts saving eight shots on goal but the offense could not find the back of the net.
Katie Porter struck a shot in the first half that rang the post before being cleared away. Caitlin Hurd and Jammie Boyce also missed just wide in the second half as the Lady Lions fall to 3-5-1 overall while MC moves to 6-2 on the year.
The Lady Monarchs controlled the ball on the offensive side of midfield for the majority of the game outshooting Piedmont 10-4 and holding the advantage in corner kicks at 11-3. Despite going into halftime knotted at zero the game-winner came at the 46th minute and an insurance goal was tacked on at the 61st minute by Methodist.
The women will return to the field again on Tuesday, September 26th as they host Great South Athletic Conference opponent Wesleyan College starting at 6:00.
