Piedmont Breezes Past Huntingdon For 11-0 Conference Victory

It was a complete team effort this afternoon at Walker Field as eight different Lady Lions found the back of the net in Piedmont College''s 11-0 shutout over visiting Great South Athletic Conference opponent Huntingdon College. Piedmont scored a season-high 10 goals in the first-half, five of which came within seven minutes of each other.

The Lady Lions move to an even 2-2-0 in GSAC play and 3-4-1 overall. PC kept Huntingdon from finding their first victory of the season and moved them to 0-7-0 and 0-3-0 in the Great South.

Caitlin Hurd notched her first game-winning goal of her career unassisted at the 5th minute and Katie Porter added another goal at the 13th minute on an assist from Mary Ann Alexander. The Lady Lions then rattled off five goals between the 26th and 33rd minute, and then three goals between the 40th and 44th minute.

Porter, Samantha Graham and Caitlin Delvasto all notched a pair of goals each and Autumn Richardson, Anna Darvish, Jennifer Osborne and Casey Lovelady all netted single goals. For Delvasto and Richardson their goals marked their first in their careers.

PC will turn around quickly and play non-conference NCAA-III South Region opponent Methodist College tomorrow, September 24th, at Walker Field starting at 1:00.
