The forward combination of Drew Griffin and Jorge Pradilla led the Piedmont College men's soccer this afternoon at Walker Field to a 3-0 shutout victory over visiting Great South Athletic Conference opponent Huntingdon College. PC extends their current winning streak to three matches and moves them to a perfect 3-0 at home this year.
The Lions now stand at 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference while the loss drops Huntingdon to 1-6-1 and 1-1-0 in the GSAC. Piedmont has a winning record for the first time since opening day when they defeated Emmanuel College.
Griffin struck at the 11th minute on a penalty kick and then found the net again 20 minutes later on a pass from Pradilla. The two struck again in the second half at the 79th minute but this time it was Pradilla scoring on an assist from Griffin.
In goal Patrick Ratigan recorded his second shutout of the season with six saves. The Lions controlled the ball on offense and had numerous scoring chances as they gained 13 corner kicks and 12 shots on goal.
PC will return to action again tomorrow, September 24th as they host NCAA-III South Region opponent Methodist College at Walker Field with kickoff scheduled for 3:00.
