Piedmont Completes Season Sweep Of Methodist With 110-100 Victory

The Piedmont College men's basketball team completed the season sweep of two-time defending USA-South Athletic Conference champion Methodist College this afternoon with a 110-100 victory over the visiting Monarchs in PC's Johnny Mize Athletic Center. The Lions were hitting on all cylinders as they connected on 52% of their field goal attempts including 10-20 from three-point range.

After Methodist jumped out to an early 18-10 lead six minutes into the game it was all Piedmont from there as the Lions took their first and final lead of the game at 24-23 just over five minutes later. Piedmont led 49-43 at the break.

In the second half, the Lions stretched out to a comfortable lead only to see Methodist rally to trail by three (92-89) with 4:33 remaining. Piedmont answered with a 9-2 run highlighted by five unanswered points from Kyle Kemmerer.

Piedmont's Mike Adams and Jake Baldwin combined for 51 points (26 and 25 respectively) to lead the balanced PC offensive attack. Brent Walker contributed with his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Kemmerer and Whitlock added 10 points apiece to cap five Lions in double-figures while Jake Green added seven points and seven assists.

The win assures the men's basketball program of only its second overall winning record in the last nine years as Piedmont now stands at 13-10 overall. PC will wrap up the regular-season on Wednesday, February 15th with a Great South Athletic Conference game versus visiting Huntingdon College as part of Senior Night festivities.
