The Piedmont College women's soccer team traveled to Macon and earned their first victory of the season yesterday over Great South Athletic Conference opponent Wesleyan College by the score of 7-0. The win moves the Lady Lions to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the GSAC.
The victory marked the first-career victory for head coach Jimmy Stephens in his inaugural season at the helm of the Piedmont College women's soccer team.
After being held scoreless for the first-half, the Lady Lions responded with seven unanswered goals after intermission. Opening the onslaught was Erin Porter (pictured) who recorded the her first of two goals and the eventual game-winner on a penalty-kick at the game's 50:00 mark.
Joining Porter's two goals was Bergdis Gudnadottir with two goals, and Ashley Parker, Brooke Bourgeois and Miss Hoffman netting one goal apiece.
The game's final goal was an exclamation point as Hoffman scored a one-timer on a cross from Haley Boyce with one minute remaining.
Piedmont will return to action Wednesday, September 14th as they host Oglethorpe University at 5:00 at PC's Walker Field.
