The Piedmont College women's soccer team shutout Great South Athletic Conference host Spelman College in Atlanta, GA today by the score of 3-0. Haley Boyce (pictured) led the Lady Lions with a pair of second-half goals to put the game out of reach.
At the 42:00 mark, Katie Wood connected the eventual game-winner on a throw-in from Ashley Parker. In the second-half Boyce netted her first goal at the 62:00 mark with the assist again going to Parker.
Only twelve minutes later at the 74:00 mark Boyce connected on a corner kick that slipped by the Spelman defense for her second goal of the match.
In goal Michelle Holland recorded her first collegiate shutout by recording two saves.
Despite spending most of the first-half knotted at zero, Piedmont's offense proved to be to much as Spelman was outshot 19-2 and lost the edge in corner kicks as well 11-4.
The victory moves the Lady Lions to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. Piedmont returns to action again on Saturday, September 24th as they travel to Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC with game-time set for 11:00.
