The Piedmont College women's soccer team fell to visiting Great South Athletic Conference rival Maryville College tonight 2-0 at PC's Walker Field. The Lady Lions were outshot 7-2 and lost the edge in corner kicks 9-3.
Maryville scored the eventual game-winner at the 10:00 mark. Piedmont was unable to answer the 1-0 halftime deficit and dropped a second goal in the second half at the 70:00 mark.
Michelle Holland recorded five saves in goal, including the successful stop of a penalty kick at the 30:00 mark.
Ashley Parker and Bergdis Gudnadottir recorded the one shot apiece for the Lady Lions.
The loss leaves Piedmont at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions return to the playing field on Tuesday, September 20th as they travel to conference opponent Spelman College in Atlanta, GA with kick-off set for 4:00.
