PC Women's Soccer Advances To GSAC Semifinals

The Piedmont College women's soccer team defeated visiting Great South Athletic Conference opponent LaGrange College today by the score of 3-1 on Walker Field to advance to the semifinals of the GSAC tournament. The victory marks the third of the year against LaGrange who was eliminated from the GSAC Championship.

The Lady Lions scored two first-half goals and added an insurance goal in the second half. LaGrange was able to score their lone goal in the second half, but could never recover from the two-goal deficit.

Bergdis Gudnadottir recorded the first goal at the 21:00 mark on a penalty-kick after Ashley Parker (pictured) was fouled. The game winning goal came from Katie Wood at the 42:00 mark on a through ball from Parker.

In the second half PC struck quickly at the 49:00 mark as Parker scored an unassisted goal. Michelle Holland earned eight saves in the game between the posts.

The win moves the Lady Lions to 11-5 overall and advances them to the GSAC semifinals. PC will finish the regular season tomorrow with a trip to Greensboro College in Greensboro, NC with game-time scheduled for 1:00.
