The Piedmont College women's soccer team defeated visiting Great South Athletic Conference opponent Huntingdon College on Walker Field tonight by the score of 3-2. The victory marks the Lady Lions fourth in a row at home and third straight GSAC win.
Huntingdon scored first before the 1:00 mark but PC responded at the 9:00 mark as Michelle Shelton scored an unassisted goal. The Lady Lions struck next at the 33:00 mark as Ashley Parker scored on an assist from Jessica Powell. Huntingdon responded with a goal at the 43:00 mark to end the first half with both teams knotted at two goals apiece.
Bergdis Gudnadottir earned the game-winner at the 54:00 mark on a penalty kick. The Lady Lions were able to hold Huntingdon scoreless the remaining thirty-six minutes as Michelle Holland earned nine saves in goal.
The victory moves PC to 10-4 overall and 9-3 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will be in action again tomorrow on Walker Field as they wrap-up the regular season against GSAC opponent Spelman College with kick-off slated for 6:00.
