The Piedmont College women's soccer team defeated Great South Athletic Conference host LaGrange in a closely contested match tonight by the score of 1-0. The Lady Lions dominated the ball outshooting their opponents 16-3 en route to their second consecutive shutout victory.
Bergdis Gudnadottir earned the game-winning goal at the 74:00 minute mark on an assist from Ashley Parker, her 10th of the season. Michelle Holland posted her fourth shutout of the season earning three saves in goal.
The Lady Lions have now tallied 19 of their 27 goals this season in the second half. Gudnadottir and Parker led PC with seven and five shots on goal respectively. Missy Hoffman added with two shots on goal and Jammie Boyce and Mary Ann Alexander added one shot on goal apiece.
The victory moves PC to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will be in action again on Saturday, October 15th as they travel to GSAC opponent Maryville College in Maryville, TN with kick-off slated for 2:00.
