Amy Trageser enters her second season as a Graduate Assistant Coach in 2017 with the Piedmont volleyball program under Head Coach Jamie McCormack. Trageser came to Piedmont following her four-year playing career at Grove City College in Pennsylvania and a spring that saw the Maryland native volunteer as a coach with the same program.
Trageser joined the Piedmont Athletic Staff just in time for the debut of Head Coach Jamie McCormack who was brought on in March of 2016 following the retirement of long-time Coach Sid Feldman. The 2016 Lady Lions went 18-12 with Haley Hixon earning USA South Libero of the Year.
Having just completed a four-year career at Grove City, Trageser was a starting setter for the Wolverines finishing as an All-Conference honoree over her final two seasons in Pennsylvania earning Honorable Mention in 2014 before taking 2nd Team honors in 2015. Trageser’s final season saw her rank 4th in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) as she saved some of her best for last with a career-high eight kills and four blocks on Senior Day in a win over Thiel that also included 33 assists.
Joining a Piedmont team full of talented youth, Trageser should be right at home as she made an impact right away as a freshman at Grove City helping the program to perhaps one of its most defining victories in history. During her debut season of 2012, Trageser’s Wolverines faced off against powerhouse SUNY Cortland, a team which had finished the previous year with a 42-2 overall record falling in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
With a nationally ranked SUNY Cortland squad facing Grove City for the first time since 1998, a young Trageser helped her team stun the Dragons in a five-set thriller winning 3-2 with a 15-13 decider in the 5th. Ranked #9 in the country at the time, SUNY Cortland saw Trageser post 21 assists as a freshman and three service aces as well with the Wolverines pulling off a key win in 2012.
With a flair for performing in key moments already established, Trageser posted a single-game high 46 assists in the final game of her collegiate career during a four-set showdown with Westminster in the PAC Championship Tournament. Trageser finished her career with 2,357 total assists to go with 879 digs and was the only player to see action in all 212 sets over her final two seasons at Grove City.
Following the end of her collegiate playing career, Trageser spent the spring of 2016 volunteering as a coach with the Grove City volleyball program starting her collegiate coaching career a few months early. Trageser worked with her college coach, Erin Street, putting together practice plans, assisting on court, and gaining experience with general video preparation as well.
Though volleyball drew her to the Wolverines, Trageser demonstrated leadership outside of her primary sport playing for Grove City's club women's lacrosse team as well serving as the squad's captain from 2013 to 2015.
Trageser earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management in May of 2016 from Grove City College with a minor in Studio Art. Named a Scholar Athlete during her final three years with Grove City, Trageser was also named to the Dean's List on two occasions as well.
As the Graduate Assistant Coach for the volleyball program at Piedmont, Trageser will assist Head Volleyball Coach Jamie McCormack in all facets of the program.
