Luke Harris enters his fifth season with the Piedmont baseball program in the fall of 2022 and is entering his fourth as Associate Head Baseball Coach after one year as an assistant. Harris joined the Piedmont staff after spending four years as an Assistant Coach at Adrian College helping guide the Bulldogs to three NCAA regional appearances.
The 2022 season saw the Lions rack up big wins over No. 7 BSC and No. 3 LaGrange and qualify for the USA South Tournament once again. Carter Ballstadt delivered an historic season for the Lions, earning CoSIDA Academic All-America honors while also being named a Second Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings.
In 2021, Harris helped the Lions to its eighth consecutive winning season as they posted a 21-16 overall mark and went 8-6 within the USA South. Harris helped guide five Lions to All-Conference honors with three earning All-Region accolades.Â
The Piedmont baseball team posted a 10-7 record in 2020 during the COVID-19 shortened season finishing with a 7-2 mark in conference play. The Lions reeled off a six game win streak including a conference sweep at Brevard. During the short season, Piedmont had five athletes earn USA South weekly awards.Â
Harris helped lead the Lions to a 29-10 record in 2019 and ranked as high as #10 nationally. The Lions posted a 19-3 mark in league play earning the USA South Regular Season title & #1 seed in the conference tournament. Six Lions earned USA South All-Conference honors while four student-athletes earned ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honors.Â
Brady Ballstadt continued to dominate D-III baseball earning USA South Player of the Year for the second year in a row, CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-American honors, D3baseball.com All-American, and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honors. In 2019, Ballstadt broke the school career records for home runs, doubles, hits, runs and RBI.

During his time at Adrian, Harris specialized with the catchers and hitters while serving as the Head Coach of the JV program. Harris served as a recruiting coordinator for the Bulldogs while also organizing the Adrian College Baseball prospect camp.

Harris began working with the Michigan-based program in 2014 serving two seasons (2015-16) coaching the catchers before assuming the responsibility of hitting coach as well for the last two seasons (2017-18). Harris led one first team all MIAA catcher during his time at Adrian and helped the team to a 35-12 record in 2018.

Adrian catchers threw out 35.7 percent on stolen base attempts in 2016 with just one error that season. Harris helped the Bulldogs to four straight 30-win seasons, three MIAA tournament titles including back-to-back wins in 2017 and 2018, and three NCAA regional appearances.

In 2016, Harris also joined the Fulton Railroaders in the Ohio Valley League, a collegiate developmental league, as an assistant coach. He also has worked with the U.S. Baseball Academy since 2015 as a catching, hitting, and base running instructor.

Harris was a former Bulldog himself, playing both third base and catcher from 2012 to 2014. Harris graduated from Adrian College in 2015 with a degree in secondary education.
