Men's Lacrosse Races Past Huntingdon 22-10 on the Road

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Piedmont men's lacrosse scored early and often in a 22-10 win at Huntingdon on Wednesday evening in Montgomery, Alabama.

Junior Josh Tamarkin continued his great play of late, with a five goal and two assist performance to lead the Lions with seven points. Junior Noah McGriff added four goals and an assist while freshman Grady Eyler and senior Will Isley each recorded hat tricks, scoring three times apiece.

Defensively, John Dieterly was a solid 15-of-22 on faceoffs while pacing the team with eight ground balls.

While the Hawks struck first in the early minutes, Piedmont immediately answered with Tamarkin's first of the game to tie the score at 1-1, sparking a 7-0 run that saw the Lions grab control of the game and never look back.

Huntingdon scored the final goal of the opening quarter, but the Lions held them without a goal for the remainder of the first half and went to the break with an 11-2 advantage.

Even though the Hawks picked up their offense, scoring eight times in the second half, Piedmont's offense continued to pour it on, with the Lions scoring 10 times to keep the game in control,

Tamarkin scored three times in the second half, including the first two goals of the third quarter to help the Lions continue to pull away.

Up next, Piedmont will host Greensboro in the regular season finale, set for this Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m.

TURNING POINT:
- Piedmont used a 7-0 scoring run in the first quarter to grab control of the contest.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Tamarkin led the way with five goals and added a pair of assists. He has now scored 12 goals over the team's past three games.
- Eyler now has a hat trick in five of the team's last six games after adding three more goals Wednesday night.

NEWS AND NOTES:
- Piedmont has now won 10 straight against Huntingdon.
