CCS Pitcher of the Week: Layne Ayers

ATLANTA — Piedmont baseball saw more conference recognition as Layne Ayers has been named the CCS Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

The right-handed sophomore was dominant in his start during the weekend series, leading the Lions to another conference win.

Ayers shut down the Covenant Scots lineup in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday. The sophomore collected 11 strikeouts across seven innings while allowing just one unearned run to score, leading the Lions to a game one win and spurring a series sweep.
 

Next, Piedmont prepares for its last road contest of the season with a trip to LaGrange to face off in CCS competition with the LaGrange College Panthers, with game one being set for Friday, April 17, at 7 p.m.
