ATLANTA - Piedmont men's golf freshman standout Braden Kiley has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Rookie of the Week, announced Wednesday afternoon by the league office.

This marks Kiley's third career CCS Rookie of the Week award after earning the honor twice in the fall.

 

The Bedford, New Hampshire native began his spring season on a strong note, putting together three consecutive under par rounds to bank a solo fifth place finish out of 100 golfers at the Savannah Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

His standout play helped the Lions earn a tied for seventh place finish out of 20 teams competing in the event.

Kiley began his tournament with a 2-under 70 on Monday morning, closing his round with a flurry of birdies to leap up the leaderboard. He then backed it up with a 3-under, bogey free 69 in Round Two to vault into a tie for second going into the final round.

 

On Tuesday in the final round, he validated his Monday performance with a punctuating 1-under 71 to help the Lions card a third consecutive solid team round and give himself a solo fifth place finish.

Up next, Kiley and the Lions will tee it up at the Tiger Invitational in Pinehurst, North Carolina, beginning next Monday, March 9.
